Interview monks met problemen
Deze monks hebben aangegeven in de survey ze wel problemen hebben met het zoeken van skills binnen de kantoren.
Delano Kamp (UX)
"Help me find the right people with the right amount of expertise around a certain subject. Instantly allow me to ask them a question. If they're in the same office, point me in the right direction of where they would be located. Might be nice to look through projects to see who's worked on it (or still working on it). Would also be cool to have an overview of all the projects going on around all offices (just because there are so many awesome projects I never even realize we're doing)."
1. If you want to know where a specific expert or skill is within MediaMonks, how would you approach the contact process?
I’d ask the people who’ve been around for a while who I can approach, since they’re more likely to have a good grasp on who could have this specific skill. They then point me in the right direction. From there I either slack the people to ask if they are in the same office and have some time to help me out. I’ll then walk by their desk and get the help I need. If they don’t respond I’ll try to go to where their department is located and ask people in that area for the specific person. I’ll usually find out where their desk is located pretty easily. If they’re not in the office, I’ll slack them with questions and hope for an answer.
2. Are there any pain points in the contact process?
Same office = looking for the person, sheepishly walking around an unfamiliar department bothering random people to find the right person.
Other office = Time differences and not being sure if the person is going to respond.
3. Which tools do you use for the process? These can be provided by MM or perhaps you have other tools
Digital tools: Slack. Sometimes 10kft to see who worked on a project.
3A. Do you need to switch between tools?
In the case of the person not being in the same office I can imagine talking to someone on slack and then switching to a Google meets hangout.
3B. Do you need to switch between devices?
Nope, just my laptop. 4. What are your goals you hope to achieve with the tools?
Get in contact with the right person and then get more clarification on the thing I want more info about.
5. How do you keep yourself up-to-date with the projects at the different offices?
I don’t, there are a lot of projects going on. It’s almost impossible right now to know which projects are going on in my own department, let alone the other departments in the same office. Not sure I can even imagine also keeping myself up to date with projects across all departments and in all offices.

1. If you want to know where a specific expert or skill is within MediaMonks, how would you approach the contact process?
Slack them.
2. Are there any pain points in the contact process?
Nope, unless you don't know the person - then it's impossible to find them as we have no database.
3. Which tools do you use for the process? These can be provided by MM or perhaps you have other tools
Slack and I also use mail a lot.
3A. Do you need to switch between tools?
Yes, between email and slack.
3B. Do you need to switch between devices?
Laptop or phone, but I don't have to.
4. What are your goals you hope to achieve with the tools?
Start a conversation.
5. How do you keep yourself up-to-date with the projects at the different offices?
I talk to Managing Directors and Creative Content leads.
Olivia Cabello (UX strategist)
Right now I use the Monk Book in the MM app to look up people, but the problem with it is that most times the info on there (job titles, offices, etc.) is outdated so I can't really trust it. Would be great to have a tool that not only has up to date info, but also where you can directly get in touch with these people instead of having to copy paste the email (maybe a link to email or slack or something like that)
1. If you want to know where a specific expert or skill is within MediaMonks, how would you approach the contact process?
The times I had to look for someone who could help me with a specific skill, I asked someone I knew. If I don't know someone with that skill set I ask the same group of people that I know if they know someone who can help me.
2. Are there any pain points in this contact process?
So many! First of all, I feel like I end up reaching out to the same group of people over and over again on Slack. Sometimes if this group is super busy and I don't get a reply to my request or when I finally get a reply it's already too late. I also feel like I'm limited to the 30+ monks I know and missing out on the skills of 1000+ monks. Would be great to have some kind of MM version of a skillsharing app and getting connected to the right person through that.
3. Which tools do you use for the process? These can be provided by MM or perhaps you have other tools
I haven't really used anything else besides Slack for this. Very rarely I use the MM app but that's only for checking what a monk's role is or their email.
3A. Do you need to switch between tools?
Not really - I would say it's always just Slack.
3B. Do you need to switch between devices?
Nope! Only use the desktop version :)
4. What are your goals you hope to achieve with the tools?
Slack is usually the fastest and easiest way to communicate.
My main goals are to reach out/get a response and have fast and easy communication.
5. How do you keep yourself up-to-date with the projects at the different offices?
The only ways I find out what other offices are doing is when they announce something in the monknews Slack channel or LinkedIn, or if I'm working on a project with another office. I'm generally also only up-to-date with what our NY office is doing because I used to work there and am still part of the office's slack channel :p
Tina Torres (growth)
Provide org charts w names, titles and office location and maybe a blurb about expertise, as well as a log of decks categorized by specialty
1. If you want to know where a specific expert or skill is within MediaMonks, how would you approach the contact process?
I usually have to ask the Growth Slack channel or leads in the LA office Alex D., Olivier or Catherine Lee to determine expertise.
2. Are there any pain points in the contact process?
Yes, pain points are waiting for response, availability, not sure of how to contact that person or team, and often repetitive information needed cross teams IE: New biz intake form in US, then same info in another email to pillars if needed, plus a brief, then a creative brief etc.
3. Which tools do you use for the process? These can be provided by MM or perhaps you have other tools
Not sure what tools exist to determine experts or Orgs. For contact I use mail and Slack.
3A. Do you need to switch between tools?
Not really, sometimes between mail or Slack.
3B. Do you need to switch between devices?
No, everything on desktop!
4. What are your goals you hope to achieve with the tools?
Ideally we should have a wiki or tool where orgs exist for each office coupled with POC’s and ways to communicate, hours of ops in each timezone, and possible categories of expertise should be outlined.
5. How do you keep yourself up-to-date with the projects at the different offices?
On Linkedin or in the growth or strategists slack channels.
